Ms. Mcfarland is known for making learning fun and prides herself on empowering students to reach to their full potential. She is a team player who will go above and beyond for both students and staff. She is also dedicated to improving the lives of those around her and making a difference in her community.

Retention Specialist at Focus East
Mr. Turner has grown into a major asset for our school and students. He keeps his lab in order with poise and confidence while forming meaningful relationships with his students. He has gone above and beyond on many occasions to find students and reach out to the community. Aaron Turner has shown that he has enormous potential and a bright future at Focus.

Mr. Alexander is our best retention specialist because he assists in every room and takes the time to get to know all the students with whom he works. The students love that he’ll help them with any subject and when they don’t come to school he is on the phone trying to find out where they are. He is a true team player and a positive role model for the students.

Mr. McCain has a shown that he has serious dedication to his students and this school. He has the passion and zeal that is very necessary to be a successful educator at Focus East. Mr. McCain has gone above and beyond to encourage students to take his courses and be successful in them. This has shown its worth in the amount of students who have completed his courses. He personifies professionalism on a daily basis while forming honest relationships with his students.

Mr. Barbee is an outstanding example of leadership, commitment, and compassion. Mr. Barbee has grown tremendously this past year and this is evident in his professional appearance, new responsibilities, and commitment to the school. This year he has taken ownership of the Acclimation Class and went above and beyond in his efforts to engage and support new and existing students. He is always available to offer a kind word, a smile, a handshake, or hug to all that he encounters. Through his creativity and dedication, he has adapted the Acclimation Class to meet the needs of our school. Mr. Barbee is well deserving of this award for all that he offers to our students, staff and school environment.

Roderick Watson
Dean of Students at Focus East
All School leaders need someone they count on as a partner and leader. Mr. Watson has become one of those people. While he has been recognized before as a “rising star,” this award is to serve as recognition that his star truly is rising. Mr. Watson ambitiously took on a new leadership role as Dean of Students. He has learned quickly, faced challenge head on, and more importantly, moved the office forward while attacking issues. He has provided valuable insight to the School Director and the school as a whole. His creative and forward thinking ideas are a major asset to the school. He has not only grown as an educational leader, but as a compassionate leader as well.

It was and is an honor to be named employee of the month. It’s exciting to me to be able to help with the enrollment process of all of the students here at Focus Southwest. I truly hope that I am making a difference in every one of our student’s lives. The biggest success comes down to graduation day in which it is the biggest highlight of the school year. The administrators at Focus East have witnessed Mr. Roberts grow as an educator at Focus. He has learned from past mistakes and grown from experience. He humbly accepts when growing and changing should take place as any great educator should do. Scott has stepped into a leadership role both in the school and district. He takes initiative and offers valuable insight. Furthermore, Scott has grown into a more understanding and sincere educator with our students. He also proved to all of us that a teacher can have fun and get down! (i.e. the cow jamming at the Halloween Party).
